Great grains discussion!

Filed under: news, politics, horticulture, food — brad @ 9:57 pm

A terrific discussion of local grain production played to a packed house (literally) on Monday night at the EPG’s monthly soiree. From amaranth to quinoa, the role of grains in the local foodshed, and how they might become a greater part of our local food production paradigm proved to be a topic of great interest.

Folks interested in continuing the discussion should sign on to the local Lane County Grains discussion group. The more voices, the more information gets shared, so jump in.

Other items for discussion included where to host next month’s gathering (June 9), as the three-dozen or more attendees pretty much maxed out the comfortable capacity of the space so graciously provided by Bryna and her husband. So… ideas? Outdoor venues? A backyard perhaps?

And once we have a locale, what about a topic? Eco-village projects and overall food health were two topics floated at the meeting, but the floor remains open for timely and relevant topics that might form the basis for next month’s meeting. Suggestions? Post them here or on the EPG listserv.

Community Home for Sale

Filed under: miscellany — rodroch @ 9:04 am
Hi I have a property for sale
that could make a good setting for community minded
folks. The property in West Jefferson,
Eugene contains two duplexes situated on a 1/4
acre lot on 13th St at VanBuren Ave. Ideally
four interested parties (couples, young
families, single professional folk) could each
own their own 2 bedroom, 800 sq ft home for
around $100,000 each. Much of the landscaping
geared towards permaculture/community space has
been completed and now the living spaces are
ready for updating/remodeling.
If you know of anyone who is looking for an
opportunity to own and design their own home
please share this with them or have them contact
me. I can be a flexible seller and would be
interested in discussing options with people who
are seriously interested. Buyer's could rent to own.
Thanks for your time,
(707)845-2634
